Christmas Celebration in Britain
One of the most popular festivals in Britain is Christmas which is celebrated on December, 25th
every year. On that day,British people usually send Christmas cards, watch Nativity play and
have family gathering. Christmas is very important to the British people because it is birthday of
Jesus Christ thattakes place three days in the winter.
` Christmas Eve is on Decembe 25 It is an occasion not only for children but also for
adults receive the presents. It is believed that Father Christmas or Santa Clause comes with eight
reindeers and brings presents and coals at night. Afterchildren hang the stocks in the fire
place, Father Christmas climbs down from the chimney to give presents or coals in the stocks.
After that, children get up early in the next morning and open their stocks. Especially, if children
don’t behavewell, Father Christmas will give them coals. By contrast, the main present is also
put under the Christmas tree. In the morning, children and adults give the presents each other.
Everyoneis excited about unwrapping the presents that they had.
There are big families get together on the day of 25th on December. Firstly,before having
dinner, British people pull a cracker. A cracker is a color paper tube has makes a loud
explosive sound when it is pulled by two people. Besides, inside there are paper crown,
jokes andlittle gifts .Traditionally, everyone gathered around the round table, crossed their arm
each other to the cracker and then found there is something inside. Secondly, they have dinner
which is the main Christmas mealat mid-day or early afternoon. There are some special food
such as roast Turkey, roast potatoes, crandberry sauce, Plum pudding andgingerbread. However,
the most important special food is plum pudding which is called Frumenty in Celtic dish or
Christmas Porridge.Finally, family memberslisten to the message from Queen at 3.00 p. m on
radio or watch TV.
The day of Boxing is the day after ChristmasDay, British people share the contents of
the poor.Boxing Day is also known as St. Stephen`s Day when Good KingWenceslas looked
out. Traditionally, families get together to watching sports and playing board games. Moreover,
many poorly paid workers were required to work on Christmas Day and took the following day
off to visit their families. During the late 18th century, Lords and Ladies of the manor would
"box up" their leftover food, or sometimes gifts. It is special day for British people because they
have share gifts and feel happy.
Christmas is the best times not for children but for adults in Britain in three days. The
first day is the day of Christmas Eve,they give the present s are received from hanging stocks in
a traditional way or putting it under trees. The next day is Christmas Day, they pull traditionally
crackers around the table and have Christmas dinner with many special foods such Christmas
pudding. The last day is the Boxing Day, they celebrate and give presents to poor people. Not for

Education in Britain
Education in Britain is famous in the world. Nowadays, many foreigner students choose
Britain to study abroad because there are many famous schools, colleges and universities, and
had high standard education. Therefore, it is important to understand how education system in
Britain works and why many universities are famous and outstanding in the world.
Educational system in Britain which was organized by the Local Education Authorities
(LEAs) consists of five stages. Firstly, all children start primary school by the age of five.
Primary education lasts for six years. They attend the infant school from five to seven years old
and then junior school until they are eleven. Secondly, after six years of primary education,
children have to take exams in core subjects if they want go to a secondary school. Thirdly, after
five years of secondary education, pupils need to take GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary
Education) examination to study higher education because compulsory and free education ends
at sixteen. Therefore, many people leave secondary school and go to colleges for further
education, while some choose to stay at secondary school for two years more and
prepare for a university .Fourthly, higher education begins at eighteen and usually lasts three or
four years. In fact, students go to universities, polytechnics or colleges of higher education.
There are now about 180 universities in Britain. Finally, before they study in entry requirements,
they have graduated. Each level of education in the UK has varying requirements. Thus, there are
five stages of educational system in Britain, and education is very important in Britain.
There are many reasons why the UK universities are famous and outstanding in the
world. Many school, colleges and universities welcome national students. Also, tuition free in
Britain is lower than some other countries. University program lasts for three years, and Master’s
