Many Americans believe that manners have gotten worse and official figures confirm this. In a recent survey, nearly 70% said that people are (03)_______ than they were 20 or 30 years ago. However, few people believe that they have bad manners themselves! For example, only 8% in the questionnaire (05)_______ they have ever used their cell phones in public in a loud or annoying way. Many people (06)_______ new technology for our changing manners. Computers, MP3 players, and cell phones take us away from face-to-face contact, as well as being very annoying in public places. But what can we do about it? Some people would like to see a rail car (07)_______ for cell phone users so that the rest of us can travel in peace and quiet. In fact, one train company, Amtrak, has banned cell phones in one car of some trains, which is called a "Quiet Car".

Every word on a label describing a food, a drug, a cosmetic or a medical device is important in protecting you and your family from buying an inferior product, from misusing a good one, from being tricked by dangerous quackery, or from unknowingly possessing an item harmful to health.
A label must not be misleading. This restriction is somewhat vague and therefore cannot prevent all violations. Although the government tries to eliminate all misleading labels, the consumer must nevertheless be always on guard. Just because a can of sardines has a fancy- sounding foreign name, don’t take for granted that the fish were imported. It is the law, too, that manufacturers must list their names and places of their business on their labels.
Manufacturers must use common names in identifying their products so that anyone can readily understand what he is buying. Synthetic foods must be prominently labeled as artificial. Food composed of two or more ingredients must bear labels listing all ingredients in the order of predominance.
