NOMINAL – MỆNH ĐỀ DANH TỪ
I. LÍ THUYẾT
1. Kháiniệmvềmệnhđềdanhtừ:
TrongtiếngAnhmệnhđềdanhtừlàmệnhđềcóthểđóngvaitrònhưmộtdanhtừtrongcâu, câuchứamệnhđềdanhtừthườnglàmộtcâuphức. Trongcâu, danhtừlàmnhiệmvụgìthìmệnhđềdanhtừlàmnhiệmvụđó. Vậyđểtìmhiểucụthểhơnvềmệnhđềdanhtừ, chúng ta sẽcùngtheodõibàihọcsauđây.

2.Đặcđiểmcủamệnhđềdanhngữ:
Mệnhđềnàythườngbắtđầubằng: if, whether vàcáctừđểhỏinhư: what, why, when, where, …vàtừ  that.

3. Chứcnăngcủamệnhđềdanhngữ:
3.1.Mệnhđềdanhngữlàmchủngữtrongcâu:
Nhữngcâucómệnhđềdanhngữ làmchủngữthường cócấutrúcnhưsau: 


Eg. + That she comes late surprises me. (Việccôấyđếnmuộnlàmtôingạcnhiên.)
+ Why she is absent is nothing to me. (Vìsaocôấyvắngmặtchảcó ý nghĩagìvớitôi.)
+ When he leaves is up to me. (Việcbaogiờanh ta điphụthuộcvàotôi.)
+ Where they live is a secret. (Họsống ở đâulàmộtđiềubímật.)

3.2. Mệnhđềdanhngữlàmtânngữsauđộngtừ:
Câucómệnhđềdanhngữlàmbổngữsauđộngtừthườngcócấutrúcnhưsau: 


Eg. + I don’t know what she wants. (Tôikhôngbiếtcố ta muốngì.)
+ They think that they are wrong. (Họnghĩrằnghọsairồi.)
+ Can you show me where they are now? (Bạncóthểchotôibiếtgiờnàyhọđang ở đâukhông?)

3.3.Mệnhđềdanhngữlàmtânngữsaugiớitừ:
Câudạngnàythườngcócấutrúcnhưsau:  


Eg. + Their decision depends on what they think. (quyếtđịnhcủahọphụthuộcvàonhữnggìhọnghĩ.)
+ He is interested in how we do that. (Anh ta rấthứngthúvớiviệcchúng ta sẽlàmnhưthếnào.)

3.4.Mệnhđềdanhngữlàmbổngữchochủngữ:
Nhữngcâudạngnàythườngcócấutrúcnhư sau: 


Eg. + The problem is where you are now. (Vấnđềlàbâygiờbạnđang ở đâu?)
+ The main point of the speech is why people should do the morning exercise. (Điểmchínhcủabàiphátbiểulàtạisaomọingườinêntậpthểdụcbuổisáng.)

 4.Cáchthànhlậpmệnhđềdanhngữ:
– Chuyểncâutrầnthuật sang mệnhđềdanhngữ, dùng That.
Eg. 1. He came back late, which worried us all.
(That he came back late worried us all.
2. To prevent the loss of water, the man hid himself in sand.
(That the man hid himself in sand prevented the loss of water.
– Chuyểncâuhỏi Yes/ No dùng if/ whether.
Eg. 1. “Do you live here?” said the postman.
(The postman asked if I live there.
2. “Must I go?” she wondered.
(She wondered whether she had to go.
– Chuyểncâuhỏidùngtừ đểhỏibằngcáchdùngtừđểhỏi, đằngsaulàcâutrầnthuật.
Eg. 1. “Where are you going?” said the postman.
(The postman asked where I was going.
2. “What happened?” she wondered.
(She wondered what had happened.

 5. Mệnhđềdanhngữrútgọn:
Mệnhđềdanhngữcóthểđượcrútgọnkhi:
– Mệnhđềdanhngữđứng ở vịtrítânngữ.
– Mệnhđềdanhngữvàmệnhđềchínhcóchungchủngữ. Khiđó, mệnhđềdanhngữđượcrútgọnthànhdạng:

Eg. She didn’t know how much coffee she had to make for the meeting.
(She didn’t know how much coffee to make for the meeting.
