1- embarrassed [im'bærəst] (about sth / about doing sth) uncomfortable, often because
you feel stupid (and perhaps causing you to become red in the face)ngượng ngùng ; lúng

He's embarrassed about losing his hair.
I was too embarrassed to tell her how much 1 liked her.
2- to embarrass [im'bærəs] (s.o.)to cause someone to feel embarrassed: làm ai cảm thấy
ngượng ngùng ; lúngtúng.
It embarrasses her when people ask her personal questions.
Stop it! Can't you see you're embarrassing him?
3- embarrassing [im'bærəsiη] causing you to feel embarrassed: gây lúng túng.
I got to work this morning and found I had put on different colored socks
- it was so embarrassing!
4- embarrassment [im'bærəsmənt] the feeling of being embarrassed: cảm giác lúng
túng.
I hope I haven't caused you any embarrassment.
5- an embarrassment [im'bærəsmənt] (to s.o.) an embarrassing person or thing: điều
bối rối; người làm bối rối.
His past mistakes are an embarrassment to him.
She's an embarrassment to her family.
6- humiliated made to feel small or stupid: bị làm nhục; bị làm bẻ mặt
I was so humiliated that I just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible.
7- to humiliate [hju:'milieit] (s.o.)to embarrass someone very much, by making them feel
stupid:làm bẻ mặt ai; làm nhục ai.
She humiliated him by shouting at him in front of all his friends
8- humiliating [hju:'milieitiη] causing you to feel humiliated: gây cảm giác bẻ mặt ;

The England team suffered a humiliating 12-0 defeat.
9- humiliation [hju:,mili'ei∫n] the feeling of being humiliated: tình trạng bị làm nhục.
The bridegroom waited and waited, but the bride didn't arrive.

10- ashamed [ə'∫eimd] (of s.o./sth)feeling embarrassment or guilt because of your own or
someone else's wrong or inappropriate behavior: cảm thấy hổ thẹn;có tội(về cách cư xử

He's ashamed of the way he behaved last night – he ruined the evening.
He's ashamed of himself for behaving so badly.
I'm ashamed of her for saying such things.

11- shame [∫eim] the feeling of being ashamed: sự xấu hổ ; sự tủi thẹn.
He said that he looked on the terrible things he'd done with shame.
The memory of that evening filled him with shame.
12- to feel guilty (about sth/ about doing sth)to feel that you have done something wrong:
cảm thấy đã làm điều sai trái; cảm thấy có lỗi vì đã..
She felt guilty about lying to him for days afterwards.
13- guilt [gilt] the feeling of being guilty: tội lỗi.
She must have stolen it - you can see the guilt all over her face.
14- to have a (guilty) conscience (about sth /about doing sth) to feel guilty, often for a
long
period of time: có lương tâm tội lỗi; cảm thấy lương tâm bị cắn rứt.
He's got a (guilty) conscience about stealing when he was young.
15- to feel responsible (for sth) to feel that something is your fault: cảm thấy chịu trách
nhiệm về (chuyện gì)
I feel responsible for the argument, because what I said started it.
16- to feel a fool to feel embarrassed or humiliated :cảm thấy ngượng ngùng hay bẻ
mặt.
I fell such a fool when I realized that he'd been lying to me all the time.
17- to make a fool of (s.o.) to humiliate someone or make them feel or look stupid: lừa ai
vào lối xử sự ngốc nghếch.
She made a fool of him by telling everyone his embarrassing secret.
18- to go red / to blush to become red in the face because of embarrassment or shame: đỏ
mặt(vì ngượng ngùng hay xấu hổ)
He went red after he told a joke and nobody laughed.
She blushed when she realized she'd said something stupid.
19- to be reduced to (sth/ doing sth) to be forced into a humiliating position; inferior to
your
previous situation: bị rơi vào tình trạng xấu hổ hay tình trạng tồi tệ hơn trước.
He used to be the boss, but now he's reduced to working for someone else.
After losing his job, he was reduced to sweeping the streets for a living.
