I.CÁC NGUYÊN TẮC CHIA ĐỘNG TỪ SỐ ÍT VÀ SỐ NHIỀU
Độngtừsốít( Singular verbs )
(is, was, has, V-s/es,…)
Độngtừsốnhiều( plural verbs)
(are, were, have, V-inf,…)

1.Danh từđếmđượcsốít/ danhtừkhôngđếmđược
Milk is good for your health.
This book is very interesting.
1.Danh từđếmđượcsốnhiều
Students are doing their homework.
These tables are old.

2.Mệnh đề / To- V / V-ing
What she said was really interesting.
Cooking is my hobby.
To eat vegetables is very essential.
2. The + tínhtừ(chỉnhómngười
The blind are people who can’t see anything.

3. Each/Every/Either/Neither +N (sốít)
Each student is supposed todo this.
Every teacher likes teaching.
4.Each/Every/Either/Neither + of + the + N(sốnhiều)
Each of the employees has to obey the rules in their company.
3. Some/Both/Many/A lot of/Lots of/All/Several/… + N(sốnhiều)
Some books in the shops are expensive.
A lot of pepleare made redundant now.


5. Đạitừbấtđịnh( someone, somebody, anyone, anybody, everything, everybody, everyone, no one,…)
Someone is following us.
Everything I need is on the ground.
4.The police/the sheep/the fish
The police were investigating the case when we went home.
The sleep are breaking away.

Chú ý: “khisửdụnga pair ofthì chia danhtừsốít:
These pants are very cheap.
A pair of pants is very cheap.

II. HAI DANH TỪ NỐI VỚI NHAU BẰNG “AND”
Độngtừsốít( Singular verbs )
(is, was, has, V-s/es,…)
Độngtừsốnhiều( plural verbs)
(are, were, have, V-inf,…)

Khicảhaicùngnóivềmộtngười, mộtvật hay một ý tưởng.
My friend and adviser, Tom, is arriving now.
Bread and butter is my favourite food.
Chỉhaingười, haivật hay haisựvậtkhácnhau.
Water and oil don’t mix.
The pen and the book are on the desk.


III.CHỦ NGỮ VÀ ĐỘNG TỪ BỊ NGĂN CÁCH BỞI MỘT NGỮ GIỚI TỪ
S + giớitừ + V ( chiatheochủngữphíatrước )
The teacher in front of the children is very friendly.

S1 + with/as well as/together with/in addition to/accompanied by/including/… + S2 + V ( chiatheochủngữ S1)
My son, as well as her children, likes reading.
Maria together with her cousins is going to France.


IV. MỘT SỐ CẤU TRÚC KHÁC CẦN LƯU Ý
Cấutrúc 1: There + Độngtừ + Danhtừ 
độngtừTo besẽ chia theosốít hay sốnhiềudựatheodanhtừphíasau.
Vídụ:
There are flowers and trees in the garden.
There is no one in the room.
Cấutrúc 2: Number of
The number of + Danhtừ (Sốlượngcáigìđó)thìđộngtừ chia theosốít. 
Vídụ:The number of car accidents decreases quickly.
The number of people joining this competition is 100.
A number of + Danhtừ (Mộtsốcáigìđó …)thìđộngtừ chia theosốnhiều.  
A number of hours have passed.
A large number of people are facing unemployment.
Cấutrúc 3: Đốivớinhữngchủngữcóchứaphânsố, phầntrămthì ta chia độngtừtheodanhtừđứngsau “OF”
Two-third of the students in my class are boys. 
Thirty percent of the forest area has been destroyed by the fire. 
Cấutrúc 4: Sau No và None of, độngtừ chia phụthuộcvàodanhtừđứngsau No và None of làsốít hay sốnhiều
Vídụ:

S1 or S2
