UNIT 6: GRAMMAR A. WHAT DO YOU DO? (BẠN LÀM GÌ ?)
1. SHOULD: quá khứ của SHALL,Động từ khiếm khuyết- được dùng diễn tả lời khuyên.
SHOULD + V-bare
Eg: You should obey vour parents,
He should help his needed friends.
(Từ hỏi )+ Should + S + V + O/A
e.g.: Where should I do exercise? (Tôi nên tập thề dục ở đâu?)
Whatshould I do now?
Note: "SHOULD" bằng "OUGHT TO": NÊN
e.g.: You should do exercise every morning.
-> You ought to do exercise every morning.
2. WHY DON`T YOU + V +...?:diễn tả lời đề nghị (suggestion) , lời khuyên (advice).
e.g.: You`ve worked long. Why don`t you take a rest?
We need more players. Why don`t you come along?
WHY DON`T YOU + V...? = S + SHOULD + V +...
Trả lời cho dạng câu hỏi này, chúng ta dùng:
- Good idea. (Ý kiến hay đấy!)
- That`s a great idea. (Đó là ý hay đấy.)
- Wonderful. Why not? (Tuyệt quá. Sao lại không?)
- Sorry. I don`t think it`s a good idea.
(Xin lỗi. Mình không nghĩ đó là ý hay.)
- OK. I`ll think it over. (Được. Mình sẽ suy nghĩ.)
- All right. Maybe I will. (Được. Có lẽ mình sẽ.)
B. LES`T GO (CHÚNG TA CÙNG ĐI)
Lời đề nghị
Shall we...? = Let’s....:
Let`s play football. ~ Good idea.
Chúng ta cũng có thể sử dụng "Why don`t...?"
Why don`t we have a look round the factory?
2. Lời gợi ý
Chúng ta có thể sử dụng "will" hay "can"
I`ll carry your bag. ~ Oh, thanks.
We can give you a lift. ~ Oh, that would be great. Thank you.
Chúng ta cũng có thể sử dụng hình thức câu hỏi với "shall" hoặc "can"
Shall we pay you the money now? ~ Oh, there`s no hurry.
Can I get a taxi for you? ~ Yes, please.
Khi mời ai đó uống gì/ ăn gì. Ta dùng: Would you like....
Would you like one of these chocolates? ~ Yes, please.)
Hoặc: Will/Won`t you have... ?
Will you have a biscuit? ~ Thank you.
Won`t you have something to drink?
3. Lời mời
Để mời ai, chúng ta thường sử dụng "Would you like to...?"
Would you like to have lunch with us? ~ Yes, I`d love to. Thank you.
