Although, though, despite, in spite of ( Mặcdù)

Although/ though/ eventhough
Although S + V, S + V.
Eg: Although She is fat, She eats a lot of fast food.
Though the rain is heavy, She goes fishing.
Even though He has a pain in his leg, he walks to school.
Despite/ In spite of
Despite/ In spite of + Noun phrase(cụmdanhtừ), S +V .
Eg:
Despite being fat, She eats a lot of fast food.
In spite of The heavy rain, She goes fishing.
Despite a pain in his leg, he walks to school.
Cáchchuyểntừmệnhđề( S+ V) sang cụmdanhtừ.
Nếuchủngữ 2 mệnhđềgiốngnhauthìbỏchủngữ, vàchuyểnđộngtừthànhdạngVing.
Eg:
Although Hoa eats alots, she is thin.
Despite eating alots, Hoa is thin.
Nếumệnhđềcódạng :Danhtừ + be+ tínhtừ, thìchuyểntínhtừlêntrướcdanhtừvàbỏ be.
Eg: Although The coffee is hot, she drinks a lot.
Despite the hot coffee, she drinks a lot.
Nếumệnhđềcódạng: S(đạitừnhânxưng) + be+ tínhtừ, thìđổiđạitừnhânxưngthànhtínhtừsởhữu (his/her/my/….) vàđổitínhtừthànhdanhtừ, bỏ be.
Eg:
Although He was sick, He stayed up late to finish his homework.
Despite his sickness, He stayed up late to finish his homework.
Nếumệnhđềcódạng: There + be + Danhtừthìbỏ there be.
Eg;
Athough there was a pain in her arm, she does all the housework.
In spite of a pain in her arm, she does all the housework.
Nếumệnhđềcódạng : It + be + tínhtừchỉthờitiết, ta bỏ It + be, đổitínhtừthànhdanhtừvàthêm the trướcdanhtừ.
Eg: although it was snowy, he went to forest.
Despite the snow, he went to forest.
However, nevertheless ( tuynhiên)

DÙng nevertheless nhấnmạnhvàtrangtrọnghơn.
Thườngđứngđầucâu.
Eg: I watched the film twice. However, I didn’t understand.
He had a meeting at 9 a.m. Nevertheless, he came to office at 10.30.
