Period 93: UNIT 16: LET’S GO TO THE BOOKSHOP
Lesson 2: 1, 2, 3

I. Objectives:
- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
- Use vocabulary to ask for the reasons for going somewhere, and respond to the questions.  
- Ask and answer about the reason for going somewhere by using structures:
Why do you want to go to the...   Because I want to ___.  
- Demonstrate teamwork skills such as cooperation and turn taking.
- Show great respect to the places you want to go and protect the public places without throwing trash in public places.
II. Language focus:
- Vocabulary: zoo, see the animals / cinema, see a film / bakery, buy some bread / swimming pool / swim.
- Grammatical structures: Why do you want to go to the….? Because I want to…
III. Resources/Materials:
- Student’s book, teaching plan, pictures, flash cards and computer and screen.
IV. Teaching procedure:

Warm up: (4’)
Aims: to get Ss ready for the lesson and review vocabulary to make and respond to suggestion to go somewhere.


- Greet Ss.
- Have the class sing the song Let’s go ...
- Invite to groups to sing and mime the song.
Respond to T’s greetings.
Sing the song.

Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat. (8’)
Aims: to get Ss identify vocabulary to ask for the reasons for going somewhere, and respond to the questions.  


- Tell Ss that they are going to learn to ask for and give a reason.
- Ask Ss to look at the 4 pictures to understand the context in which the language is used. Check comprehension.
- Play the recording more than once, if necessary for Ss to listen and repeat.
- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.
- Play the recording again for Ss to listen and repeat.
- Call some Ss to practice in class

Activity 2: Point and say. (10’)
Aims: to get Ss recognize vocabulary to ask for the reason for going somewhere and respond to the questions.


- Tell Ss that they are going to learn to ask for and give a reason.
- Draw their attention to the bubbles to understand how the language is used. Ask them to look at the pictures and teach the words and phrases:
- zoo, see the animals:
- cinema/ see a film:
- bakery/ buy some bread:
- swimming pool/ swim.
- Check comprehension.
- Point to the first picture and get one S to ask
T: Why do you want to go to the zoo?
S: Because I want to see the animals.
- Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the pictures.
- Do choral and individual repetition and then ask Ss to practice asking and answering the questions in pairs.
- Call a few pairs to act out the exchanges.

Activity 3: Let’s talk. (10’)
Aims: to get Ss to practice using the target vocabulary and structure to ask for the reason for going somewhere and respond to the questions.


- Tell Ss that they are going to revise what they have learnt in Lessons 1 and 2.
- Ask them to work in pairs one S makes a suggestion to go somewhere, using Let’s go to….. And the other ask for a reason, using Why do you want to go to the ……?
- Let’s some pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class.

Wrap up: (3’)
Aims: to get Ss remember the target vocabulary and structure to to ask for the reason for going somewhere and respond to the questions.


- T hangs some flashcards of some places and asks Ss to name of the place and the reason they want to go there.
- Let’s go the bookshop.
-Why do you want to go to the bookshop?
Because I want to buy some pens.
- T reminds Ss practice the structure at home.
