A.LÝ THUYẾT
I. So sánh hơn ( Comparatives)
a. Tính từ, trạng từ ngắn ( Tính từ ngắn là TT có 1 hoặc 2 âm tiết, nhưng 2 âm tiết phải
kết thúc với âm: y, ow , er , et, le)
* Lưu ý: Các trạng từ ngắn thường gặp: hard (chăm chỉ), fast (nhanh), late (muộn), early
(sớm), soon (sớm)……
A + be + adj + er + than + B
V + adv
Eg. Thick  thicker
tall  taller….
Eg: Tuan is taller than Lan
b. Tính từ, trạng từ dài ( 2 âm tiết trở lên)
*Lưu ý: Trạng từ dài được tạo bởi từ tính từ cộng với đuôi “ly”: Adj + ly = Adv
Ngoại lệ: good – well (adv)
A + be + more adj than + B
V + more adv
Eg: beautiful  more beautiful
Intelligent  more intelligent
beautiful  more beautifully
Intelligent  more intelligently
Eg: His car runs more slowly than the race car.
II. So sánh nhất ( Superlatives )
a. Tính từ, trạng từ ngắn ngắn (Lưu ý: Tính từ ngắn là TT có 1 hoặc 2 âm tiết, nhưng 2
âm tiết phải kết thúc với âm: y, ow , er , et, le)
* Lưu ý: Các trạng từ ngắn thường gặp: hard (chăm chỉ), fast (nhanh), late (muộn), early
(sớm), soon (sớm)……

* Một số lưu ý.
- Với những tính từ 1 âm tiết có câu tạo: phụ âm + nguyên âm + phụ âm thì ta gấp đôi phụ
âm cuối rồi thêm er/ est.
Eg. Hot  hotter  hottest
big  bigger  biggest
Những tính từ có hai vần,kết thúc bằng chữ "y" thì đổi "y" thành "i" rồi thêm "er" trong so
sánh hơn và "est" trong so sánh nhất.

- Với những tính từ 2âm tiết có tân cùng là đuôi: –y, -er, -ow ,-le, -et: thì ta thêm đuôi er/ est

III.Equal and unequal comparisons.
S + be (not) + as/so + adj + as + N/P.
S + V/don't/doesn't + V + as/so + adv+ as +N/P.
*Notes : Kém ….h ơn : less + adj/adv/Nko đđ + than
fewer + N đếm đc s ố nhi ều ( ít …h ơn)
Eg: This solution is less effective than the previous one.
Eg:She is as tall as I am
He runs as quickly as I do.
IV.Double comparisons.
a. So sánh kép đồng tiến: (Càng… càng…)
*Form: Short adj/adv:
The + short adj/adv + er +S+ V …, the + short adj/adv + er + V ….
Long adj/adv:
The more + long adj/adv +S + V …., the more + long adj/adv +S + V ….
Eg:The harder you study, the better your results are.
The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don 't know.
b. So sánh kép lũy tiến:(Ngày càng…)
get/become + comparative + and + comparative
more and more + adjective
Eg:It is getting colder and colder.
Technology is becoming more and more important.
V.Multiple comparisons.( So sánh gấp bội)
*Form: S + V + multiple numbers(twice/three times…) + as + much/many/adj/adv +
(N) + as + N/pronoun.
Eg:This room is twice as large as that one.
He earns three times as much as his brother
