The Alphabet song
+ Objectives: To help the students listen, point
at and repeat the numbers 1 - 10 correctly.
+ Procedures
- Draw students' attention to the numbers. Tell
them to listen, point at the numbers and repeat.
Play the recording for students to listen to the
numbers, and familiarize themselves with their
stress and intonation.
- Play the recording again for students to listen
and repeat. Remind them to point at the
numbers while listening. Do this several times
until they feel confident. Correct their
pronunciation where necessary.
- Put students into pairs to practise listening,
pointing at and repeating the numbers 1 - 10.
Go around the classroom to offer support.
- Have the class to praise or cheer the
performers.
III. ACTIVITY 2 (8 minutes)
* Listen and tick. (Track 03)
+ Objectives: To help the students listen to and
identify the numbers by ticking the correct
boxes.
+ Procedures
- Ask students to identify the numbers in the
pictures.
 How many numbers are there?
- Draw students' attention to the numbers. Tell
them to listen and tick the correct boxes while
listening. Give an example by playing the
recording for three and ticking the correct box.
- Play the recording all the way through for
students to do the task. Play the recording again
for them to check their answers.
- Get students to swap books with a partner,
then check answers together as a class. Write
the correct answers on the board.
- Play the recording again for students to
double-check their answers.
- If time allows, play the recording, number by
number, for the class to listen and repeat in

students to read the words and draw lines to
match the numbers. Give an example by having
students read the word in chorus and drawing a
line to match it to the number 1.
- Give students time to do the task individually
or in pairs. Go around the classroom to offer
support where necessary.
- Check the answers as a class. Then invite a
student to come to the front and draw lines on
the board to match the words with the relevant
numbers.

Game: “Flashcard walk”
- Divide the class into teams.
- Place several flashcards (numbers from 1 to
10) on the classroom floor.
- Have students from each team come up the
front.
- Play some music and have the students walk
around the flashcards.
- Stop the music and say the name of one
flashcard.
- Have the students pick up the correct
flashcard and say a sentence using the word on
the flashcard.
- Give the first team to make a correct sentence
one point.

STUDENTS' ACTIVITIES

- Look at the numbers in word and numeral
form. Listen to the teacher's explanation.

- Do the task individually or in pairs.
- Come to the front and draw lines on the board
to match the words with the relevant numbers.

- Draw students' attention to the title and lyrics

- Play the recording all the way through for
students to listen carefully to the pronunciation
and the melody.
- Play the recording again for students to listen
and repeat. Do this several times until they feel

- Draw a 3x3 Bingo grid on the board and get
students to do the same in their notebooks.
- Tell students to complete their grids with any
numbers from one to ten. Explain how to play
the game: You call out a number. Every student
that has that number in his or her grid should
cross it out.
- Continue to call out numbers (remember to
keep a record!) until someone shouts Bingo!
Check his / her grid to make sure that he or she
has crossed out the numbers that you have
called, then declare him or her the winner.
- Repeat the same procedure with the Bingo
grid filled with the letters of the alphabet.
- Extension: If time allows, have students count
from one to ten, and sing “The alphabet song”
in chorus.
- Praise students if they do the activity well.
